“Ramayana Release Date is the phrase I have seen more than any other on my timeline this week, and for once the answer is not a rumour. The makers have confirmed that Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1 opens worldwide on November 5, 2026, across all premium formats, just three days before Diwali.

I write about Bollywood releases for JustWebSeries every single day, and after reading every announcement, trailer note and budget report I could find, I realised that most articles only repeat the headline. So here is the full picture.

In this guide I will walk you through the Ramayana Release Date, the Ramayana Part 1 advance booking plan, the complete Ramayana movie cast, the real numbers behind the Ramayana movie budget, and the Ramayana Part 2 release date.

Today is October 13, so the countdown to the Ramayana Release Date stands at exactly 23 days, and that makes this the right moment to sort fact from noise.

What Is the Ramayana Release Date, and Why Did the Dates Keep Changing?

The confirmed Ramayana Release Date is November 5, 2026. The makers announced it when Navratri with a fresh ensemble poster, and the line they used was that the film arrives in cinemas worldwide from 5th November, with bookings opening on Dussehra. The film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, produced by Namit Malhotra, and co-produced by Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.

Here is why people got confused, and I admit I was confused too. An international trailer distributed by Sony Pictures had earlier carried November 6 as the worldwide date. Some promotional material and interviews pointed to November 8, which is Diwali day in 2026, as the India date.

Even a few ticketing and fan pages are still showing the older numbers. When I lined them up, the pattern was simple: November 8 was the festival anchor everyone talked about, November 6 was an earlier international slot, and November 5 is the final, official Ramayana Release Date that overrides both.

Let me give you three numbers that make the date easier to plan around:

  • 23 days remain between today and the Ramayana Release Date.
  • 3 days separate opening day from Diwali on November 8.
  • 5 languages will carry the film and the Ramayana movie cast in India: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

Sony Pictures handles distribution outside India, while Dharma Productions looks after the Hindi-speaking market. That split also shapes how Ramayana Part 1 advance booking rolls out in each market.

When Does Ramayana Part 1 Advance Booking Open?

The Ramayana Part 1 advance booking window opens on Dussehra, which falls on October 20, 2026. That is seven days from today and 16 days before the film hits screens.

In my experience with big festival releases, that two-week gap is when the first real demand signal appears, so I will be watching the Ramayana Part 1 advance booking numbers closely.

Here is how I would approach the Ramayana Part 1 advance booking if I were buying tickets for my own family:

  • Decide the format first: For Ramayana Part 1 advance booking, note that the makers are releasing across all premium formats, and the film was shot with IMAX in mind. Premium seats sell out first.
  • Pick the opening weekend early: November 5 is a Thursday, so the Ramayana Part 1 advance booking for Friday to Sunday will fill faster than the Thursday shows.
  • Choose your language deliberately: The Hindi version will have the widest screen count, but Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam shows will also be on sale.
  • Book from the official app or the theatre’s own site: Fake booking links always appear on the day Ramayana Part 1 advance booking opens, so avoid anything shared in random forwards.

One honest warning from me: the Ramayana Part 1 advance booking will probably be heavy on festival demand, so do not assume dynamic pricing will stay low. Set your own budget before you open the app, however large the Ramayana movie budget is.

Ramayana movie cast Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana character lineup

Remember Part 1 is only half the story, since the Ramayana Part 2 release date follows in 2027.

Ramayana Movie Cast: Who Is Playing Whom?

The Ramayana movie cast is the main reason this film has taken over every entertainment feed. I have put the confirmed names into one table so you can scan it in ten seconds.

Actor

Character

Ranbir Kapoor

Lord Ram

Sai Pallavi

Sita

Yash

Ravana

Sunny Deol

Hanuman

Ravie Dubey

Lakshman

Lara Dutta

Kaikeyi

Rakul Preet Singh

Shurpanakha

Arun Govil

King Dasharath

The wider Ramayana movie cast also includes Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor, Shobana, Saurabh Sachdeva, Faisal Malik, Indira Krishnan and Adinath Kothare. Earlier reports also linked Kajal Aggarwal to Mandodari and Amitabh Bachchan to Jatayu, but I would treat those as report-based until the makers share a full character list.

What I find fascinating about the Ramayana movie cast is the Arun Govil choice. He played Ram in the 1987 television Ramayana that a whole generation grew up on, and now he appears as Dasharath. To me that feels like a respectful handing over of the torch.

The Ramayana movie cast is also backed by a rare music pairing. Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman are both composing the score, and T-Series has reportedly paid an advance of around ₹75 crore for the music rights. That is about 9 percent of the reported ₹835 crore Ramayana movie budget.

Several of these characters will likely grow in importance by the Ramayana Part 2 release date.

How Big Is the Ramayana Movie Budget? The Numbers I Cross-Checked

The Ramayana movie budget is the most argued-about number in Indian cinema right now, and the reports do not agree. So I collected the main claims side by side.

Report

Claim

Industry reports (Bollywood Hungama sourcing)

About ₹835 crore (roughly $100 million) for Part 1 alone

Another trade report

About ₹900 crore for Part 1 and ₹700 crore for Part 2, ₹1,600 crore in total

Yash, in an interview

₹4,000 crore covers both parts, including release and promotion

Yash clarification is the one I trust most, because he is a co-producer. He said the ₹4,000 crore figure is not the cost of Part 1 alone and that it includes global release and marketing, like how Hollywood counts costs. So when you see a headline screaming about the Ramayana movie budget, check which number it uses.

Now the context. Using the ₹835 crore figure, the Ramayana movie budget is about 1.4 times Kalki 2898 AD (₹600 crore), about 1.5 times RRR or Adipurush (₹550 crore each) and about 2.2 times Brahmastra: Part One (₹375 crore).

Reports also say the film needs around 600 days of post-production, and the Ayodhya set alone costs about ₹11 crore.

There are reported star fees inside the Ramayana movie budget too, and I want to be careful here. Times of India has reported ₹75 crore per part for Ranbir Kapoor, ₹100 crore across both parts for Yash and ₹20 crore per part for Sunny Deol.

These are reports, not confirmed contracts, so read them as indicators of scale rather than facts.

If you want the break-even maths, Outlook Business estimated that recovering ₹835 crore from theatres alone would need a worldwide gross between ₹1,600 crore and ₹1,800 crore. That is about 1.9 to 2.2 times the Ramayana movie budget, which is why the makers are leaning on music, digital and satellite rights too, and the Ramayana Part 2 release date matters for the same reason, since a second film adds a second revenue wave.

What the Trailer Tells Us About the Film

The trailer, which previewed much of the Ramayana movie cast, arrived in late July, and the CBFC gave it a U certificate, which signals a family-friendly film, whatever the Ramayana movie budget says about scale. Two cuts were listed, a 3D version of about 4 minutes 15 seconds and a theatrical version of about 4 minutes.

From what has been reported, the footage moves through Ram and Sita’s wedding, Kaikeyi’s decision that sends Ram, Sita and Lakshman into a 14-year exile, and it ends with Ram’s vow to defeat Ravana.

Sunny Deol’s Hanuman, a key part of the Ramayana movie cast, was not shown, which tells me the makers are saving a big surprise for the theatres. With Ramayana Part 1 advance booking days away, my expectation is that Part 1 covers the build-up to the great war rather than the war itself, and the Ramayana Part 2 release date in 2027 is where the climax lives.

Ramayana Part 2 Release Date: What We Know So Far

The Ramayana Part 2 release date is slated for Diwali 2027, roughly a year after Part 1. The makers have kept the same festival slot on purpose, and I think it is a smart move, because it trains the audience to treat Ramayana as a Diwali tradition.

A few things I take from the Ramayana Part 2 release date plan:

  • The gap of about 12 months before the Ramayana Part 2 release date is short for a film this big, which suggests that a large part of the visual work is being done in parallel.
  • A trade report says the Part 2 share of the Ramayana movie budget is lower because the sets and world-building are already complete, leaving mostly action sequences.
  • Yash, the villain of the Ramayana movie cast, plays a much bigger role in the second half, so the Ramayana Part 2 release date is when I expect the Ram-Ravana face-off to dominate.

Please note that the Ramayana Part 2 release date can still shift if post-production demands more time. The makers have not announced an exact day, so treat Diwali 2027 as the target, not a promise.

My Honest Take: What Ramayana Must Get Right

Manoj Muntashir recently made a public appeal asking audiences not to compare this film with Adipurush, and I covered that debate in my article on why Manoj Muntashir does not want Ramayana compared to Adipurush.

I understand the request, but the comparison is going to happen anyway, and the only way out is for the film to look and feel confident.

Three things decide whether the Ramayana movie budget pays off:

  • Authenticity of the Ramayana movie cast performances. Ranbir Kapoor leads the Ramayana movie cast, and playing Ram is a risk and a reward. His calm screen presence suits the role, but the audience will judge every frame.
  • Visual quality. DNEG and Prime Focus are handling the effects, and DNEG has won Academy Awards for Dune. The bar is high.
  • Emotional connection. The Ramayana movie budget can buy spectacle, but only the writing can make families cry in the theatre.

Ranbir Kapoor is also in the news for other projects, and I looked at one such buzz in my piece on the Emraan Hashmi and Ranbir Kapoor movie rumours.

If Part 1 lands well, the Ramayana Part 2 release date will become one of the most anticipated dates of 2027.

How to Plan Your Ramayana Release Date Weekend

Because the Ramayana Release Date lands right before Diwali, here is the simple plan I would follow.

  • October 20: Open the app on Dussehra and lock your seats during the first Ramayana Part 1 advance booking wave.
  • November 5: Once your Ramayana Part 1 advance booking is done, watch on opening day to avoid spoilers.
  • November 6 to 8: Take the family to see the Ramayana movie cast on the long weekend, because Diwali on November 8 will fill theaters.

Whatever you pick, remember the Ramayana Part 2 release date is a year away, so Part 1 is your only chance this Diwali.

If you are also trying to plan your wider watchlist around opening day, my roundup of upcoming movies to watch in October and beyond will help, and you can follow all the latest headlines in my Bollywood news section.

Conclusion

To sum up, the Ramayana Release Date is November 5, 2026, the Ramayana Part 1 advance booking begins on Dussehra, the Ramayana movie cast is one of the biggest ever assembled in Indian cinema, the Ramayana movie budget is a record-setting gamble, and the Ramayana Part 2 release date is penciled in for Diwali 2027.

I am going into the opening weekend with high hopes and a cautious mind. If the film delivers emotionally, the Ramayana Release Date will be remembered as a turning point for Indian cinema.

Tell me in the comments which day you are booking for and what you expect before the Ramayana Part 2 release date, and keep checking JustWebSeries for the first review as soon as the film releases. I will be writing it as Khushi, from my seat in the theatre, the same day.
