Naagzilla is the one Bollywood title I cannot stop thinking about this October, and I want to be upfront with you before we begin: this is a pre-release review of a Kartik Aaryan fantasy comedy, not a verdict on a finished film.

Nobody outside the makers’ circle has seen it yet, so I am reading every poster, date change and cast update the way a critic reads a script, with a pen in hand and a lot of curiosity. The film, officially titled Naagzilla: Naag Lok Ka Pehla Kaand, lands in cinemas on 12 February 2027, which is exactly 105 days from today, 30 October 2026.

I am Khushi Vaid, and I have tracked Bollywood release calendars on this site long enough to know when a new Kartik Aaryan movie feels different, and this Kartik Aaryan new movie has all the signs.

A shape-shifting snake hero, a comedy director from the Fukrey world, the Preity Mukhundhan Bollywood debut and a planned trilogy: that is a lot of ambition packed into one Naag Lok Ka Pehla Kaand. In this article I break down the release date shift, the story, the cast, the music, my own expectation scorecard and the honest risks, so you do not have to hop between ten tabs.

If you are looking for a Kartik Aaryan fantasy comedy worth planning your Valentine’s weekend around, read on.

Naagzilla Release Date 2027: Why the Film Moved from August to February

The release date has changed once already, and this is where many websites are still confusing readers.

The film was first locked for 14 August 2026, a date chosen to sit beside Nag Panchami and the Independence Day weekend.

On 15 April 2026, the makers shifted Naag Lok Ka Pehla Kaand to 12 February 2027 while unveiling a fresh poster. That is a gap of 182 days, almost exactly six months.

Kartik Aaryan as an ichhadhari naag in the Naagzilla motion poster

Several pages still show the old August date for Naagzilla, so if you saw “14 August 2026” somewhere, it is outdated. The correct date is Friday, 12 February 2027, and because Valentine’s Day falls on Sunday, 14 February, the film gets a full three-day weekend around it.

From the first announcement on 22 April 2025 to the new release date is 661 days, so the wait for this Kartik Aaryan new movie has been long.

My take: a Kartik Aaryan fantasy comedy built around shape-shifting snakes surely needs generous post-production time, and six months is generous. The makers have not given a detailed official reason, so treat any “reason” you read online as speculation, including mine.

If you are planning your cinema calendar around a Kartik Aaryan new movie, my list of the most exciting upcoming movies to watch in October 2026 and beyond will help you place this film among the other big releases.

Naagzilla Story: What We Know About Naag Lok Ka Pehla Kaand

The official Naagzilla synopsis is short, but it tells us plenty. In a world where shape-shifting ichhadhari naags live quietly among humans, a once carefree naag finds that his life and his precious Naagmani are in danger because of a wily, power-hungry villain. Another listing describes ancient serpent legends colliding with present-day chaos as a mystical being rises from Naag Lok to face a growing threat.

The words “Pehla Kaand” matter. They signal that Naag Lok Ka Pehla Kaand is the first chapter of a planned creature-comedy trilogy, not a standalone story. As a viewer, I like that the makers behind Naag Lok Ka Pehla Kaand are thinking big, but as a reviewer I also know that first chapters can feel like long set-ups. If Naag Lok Ka Pehla Kaand resolves its main conflict and still leaves a hook for part two, it will work.

What I genuinely like is the male shape-shifter idea. Television has given us decades of Naagin serials, yet a male ichhadhari naag lead in a big-screen Kartik Aaryan fantasy comedy is rare. Even as epic mythology like Ramayana heads to theatres with a serious tone, this film is clearly choosing the opposite route: folklore with a wink.

Preity Mukhundhan Bollywood debut in Naagzilla opposite Kartik Aaryan

Kartik Aaryan’s Ichhadhari Naag Role: A Fresh Kartik Aaryan Fantasy Comedy Bet

In Naag Lok Ka Pehla Kaand, Kartik plays Preyamvadeshwar Pyare Chand, a name that already sounds like a joke waiting to happen. For an actor best known for romantic comedies and the Pyaar Ka Punchnama monologue style, this Kartik Aaryan fantasy comedy is a real change of lane.

His horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 reportedly crossed Rs 200 crore worldwide, so the audience clearly accepts him in a supernatural-comic space. Opposite him, the Preity Mukhundhan Bollywood debut brings a fresh on-screen pairing.

Another detail worth noting: his next announced film, the Anurag Basu-directed project with Sreeleela, has reportedly locked 30 April 2027.

That is only 77 days after this release, so 2027 is shaping up to be a heavy year for him.

When a star has two films in 77 days, the first one has to do the heavy lifting for his image, and this new movie is the one setting the tone.

I enjoy comedies that begin with a bang, but I have also seen them lose steam later, as I pointed out in my VIBE review. The same risk applies to any Kartik Aaryan fantasy comedy that depends on one strong idea. The writing needs to keep inventing new situations for the ichhadhari naag, not just repeat the same gag.

Preity Mukhundhan Bollywood Debut: Who Is She and What Does She Bring?

Many readers are asking me, “Who is the heroine?” The answer is Preity Mukhundhan. Born on 30 July 2001 in Tiruchirappalli, the 25-year-old actress mostly works in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films and has also appeared in music videos such as “Morni” with Badshah.

Bollywood Hungama reported that this film marks her Hindi entry, which makes it the Preity Mukhundhan Bollywood debut everyone is waiting to judge.

Earlier reports linked other actresses to the project, but the latest listings on TMDB, Plex and Letterboxd all name her, so I am treating that as the current cast.

A fresh face can be a big advantage in a Kartik Aaryan new movie like this because the audience has no baggage about the Preity Mukhundhan Bollywood debut.

The Preity Mukhundhan Bollywood debut also gives this Kartik Aaryan fantasy comedy a pan-India angle, since she already has a following in the South.

My only concern is screen time. In many hero-driven comedies, the heroine becomes a side note. I hope the makers give the Preity Mukhundhan Bollywood debut a proper character arc, because a debut works best when the role has something to do.

The Preity Mukhundhan Bollywood debut needs more than songs and glamour.

Ravi Kishan, Pritam and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba: The Team Behind the Mayhem

Naagzilla lives or dies with its supporting team. Opposite the Preity Mukhundhan Bollywood debut, Ravi Kishan is listed as the antagonist, and Bollywood Hungama described him as the surprise package of the film, with producer Mahaveer Jain saying he raised the madness considerably.

A theatrical, over-the-top villain is exactly what this Kartik Aaryan new movie needs, and Ravi Kishan has the comic timing to pull it off.

Director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba is best known for the Fukrey franchise, which proves he understands ensemble chaos and punchy dialogue. Gautam Mehra is credited with the story, and Pritam Chakraborty is composing the music, though I have not found an official song release yet.

This Kartik Aaryan fantasy comedy is backed by Dharma Productions and Mahaveer Jain Films, with producers including Karan Johar, Mahaveer Jain, Adar Poonawalla and Apoorva Mehta. The shoot has also been reported as wrapped, so the remaining work is VFX, music and marketing.

With Karan Johar’s banner behind it, the Kartik Aaryan fantasy comedy should get a wide release and a strong promotional push.

That alone gives the Naag Lok Ka Pehla Kaand brand a better chance than most fantasy experiments in Hindi cinema.

My Pre-Release Review Scorecard: How Excited Am I, Really?

I do not rate films I have not seen, so this table is not a star rating. It is my personal expectation score for this Kartik Aaryan new movie, out of 10, based only on what has been officially shared so far. I will replace it with a proper review rating after I watch the Kartik Aaryan fantasy comedy.

Where It Could Stumble: My Honest Concerns

Hype is lovely for any Kartik Aaryan new movie, but a reviewer’s job is to ask uncomfortable questions. Here are the six things that make me cautious:

  • Visual effects: Shape-shifting snakes need believable VFX, and a weak creature design can break a comedy instantly.
  • Tone balance: Mixing folklore, comedy and adventure in a Kartik Aaryan fantasy comedy is difficult. Too much silliness and the mystery disappears; too much seriousness and the comedy feels forced.
  • Trilogy pressure: If the first film spends all its energy on setting up parts two and three, the story may feel incomplete.
  • Debut pressure: The Preity Mukhundhan Bollywood debut must land with Hindi audiences, not just South Indian fans.
  • Silent marketing: With 105 days left, there is still no official trailer, so audience curiosity has to be fed soon.

None of these are deal-breakers for a Kartik Aaryan new movie. They are simply the exact points I will watch closely when I finally sit in the theatre for Naag Lok Ka Pehla Kaand.

Will It Work at the Box Office? The Valentine’s Weekend Question

I will not throw a made-up opening-day number at you, because any figure released before a trailer is pure guesswork. What I can say is based on facts about this Kartik Aaryan new movie. Naag Lok Ka Pehla Kaand opens on a Friday, 12 February 2027, with Valentine’s Day on Sunday, so couples, friends and families all have a reason to head to cinemas, and the Preity Mukhundhan Bollywood debut adds a fresh pairing for date-night viewers. Kartik Aaryan has a proven record with young audiences, and his Rs 200 crore-plus horror-comedy shows supernatural humour works.

The trade-off is genre. A romantic weekend usually favours love stories, while this Kartik Aaryan fantasy comedy is about a snake. If the trailer sells the humour and the spectacle together, the film can attract both the date-night crowd and the family audience. If it looks like a heavy VFX showcase without charm, the Valentine’s slot could actually work against it.

Naagzilla Trailer and OTT Release: What Is Confirmed and What Is Not

As of 30 October 2026, no official Naag Lok Ka Pehla Kaand trailer has been released. You may see a fan-made concept trailer on YouTube, but it is not the real thing, so please do not treat it as footage from this Kartik Aaryan new movie. The OTT platform and streaming date are also not announced.

Here is my promise: when the trailer drops, I will update this same page instead of publishing a duplicate, so you always find the latest information in one place. Fans are also waiting to see the Preity Mukhundhan Bollywood debut on screen. You can follow the Upcoming Movies section for every new announcement.

Conclusion

So, is Naagzilla worth your excitement? Based on everything I could verify about this Kartik Aaryan new movie, yes, with sensible caution. This Kartik Aaryan new movie has an original folklore idea, a star trying something new, the Preity Mukhundhan Bollywood debut with real potential, a villain played by Ravi Kishan and a director who understands chaotic comedy.

My overall expectation score is 7.5 out of 10, and that number will move up or down once the trailer arrives.

The biggest question is execution. If the VFX are convincing and the humour stays fresh, Naag Lok Ka Pehla Kaand could start a franchise Bollywood has been missing. If not, it may become another ambitious idea that never found its balance. Either way, 12 February 2027 is a date worth marking, and every Kartik Aaryan fantasy comedy fan will be watching closely.

Bookmark this page, because I will update it with the trailer, songs and OTT details as soon as they are official. Until then, tell me in the comments: are you excited for this Kartik Aaryan new movie, or do you think the Preity Mukhundhan Bollywood debut is the real reason to watch?
