Friday OTT Releases (October 30, 2026): 6 Exciting New Movies and Shows You Can’t Afford to Miss

Friday OTT Releases for October 30, 2026 look like one of the strongest lineups of the Diwali-to-November stretch, and I spent this morning going through official platform listings, trailers and release schedules so you do not have to.

From a period crime series on Netflix to an uncut supernatural horror film on JioHotstar, the OTT releases October 30 brings are wide enough for every mood.

If you have been searching for the Akka Netflix release date, the Obsession JioHotstar Hindi version or simply new OTT releases this weekend, this guide answers all of it in one place. I have picked 6 titles from the OTT releases October 30 schedule, added platform, language and genre details, and given each one my own hype score out of 10 so you can decide quickly. Let me walk you through them.

What Are the Best Friday OTT Releases to Watch on October 30, 2026?

My short answer for the OTT releases October 30 list: Akka, Meethe Mein Kya Hai, Obsession, Sigma, A Couple of Lies and Immortal. Together they cover crime, family comedy, horror, action and psychological thrillers across Netflix, JioHotstar and SonyLIV. Here is the full snapshot of the Friday OTT Releases I recommend, before I break each one down.

Note: for every title among the OTT releases October 30, the hype score is my personal pre-watch rating based on cast, premise and trailers. I will update this post with my full verdicts after streaming.

Friday OTT Releases by the Numbers: What the Data Says

I like to start with numbers, because they show how crowded the new OTT releases this weekend really are. According to one weekly roundup, 12 new films and series arrive between October 27 and 31 alone, spread over Netflix, JioHotstar, ZEE5, SonyLIV, Apple TV and Prime Video.

Another tracker says the new OTT releases this weekend and the days around it add up to around 45 films and 25 specials across platforms, including 11 Telugu titles.

Here is what stood out to me while compiling the OTT releases October 30:

• Netflix is the clear leader. At least 7 titles in the main weekly list arrive on Netflix on October 30, and the Akka Netflix release date is one of them, along with Meethe Mein Kya Hai, A Couple of Lies, Collision Course and Dead-End Job.

• JioHotstar has 2 big drops, led by the Obsession JioHotstar Hindi stream and Love Always.

• South Indian content is strong. One list counts 6 South Indian titles for this Friday, including Sigma, Akka, Immortal, Love Always and Rudravanam PS.

• Horror is trending among the new OTT releases this weekend. The Obsession JioHotstar Hindi version, Immortal and Apocalypse Z: New World give horror fans three solid options in one week.

If you want to see how each platform’s catalogue fits your budget, check our Netflix section and JioHotstar section for more coverage.

1. Akka (Netflix): The Biggest Name Among Friday OTT Releases

Release date: October 30, 2026 | Platform: Netflix | Genre: Period crime drama thriller

If I had to pick one headline from the new OTT releases this weekend, it would be Akka. Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte lead this period crime series, which is written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty and produced by YRF Entertainment.

The Akka Netflix release date is October 30, 2026, and the show streams on Netflix India.

What excites me most is the pairing. Keerthy Suresh has been building a bold reputation for choosing unusual roles, and Radhika Apte rarely misses with a dark thriller. Add a period setting and a major production house behind it, and you have the ingredients for a proper binge.

Who should watch it: If you enjoy slow-burn crime dramas with strong female leads, Akka should be your first click on Friday. Set a reminder for the Akka Netflix release date, October 30, so you can start it on Friday night.

Hype score: 9/10

2. Meethe Mein Kya Hai (Netflix): Light Family Comedy for the Weekend

Release date: October 30, 2026 | Platform: Netflix | Genre: Family comedy-drama

Not every one of the new OTT releases this weekend is a murder mystery. Meethe Mein Kya Hai is a Hindi family comedy-drama that premieres directly on Netflix on October 30. Among all Friday OTT Releases this week, it is the one I would pick for a Diwali-week family watch, when relatives are still around and everyone wants something easy.

It drops on the same day as the Akka Netflix release date, so Netflix subscribers get a double bill, and it is a gentler follow-up after the Obsession JioHotstar Hindi scares. But with the festive mood still in the air, a feel-good Hindi story is a smart addition to the OTT releases October 30 lineup.

Who should watch it: Families, and anyone who wants a break from dark thrillers.

Hype score: 7.5/10

3. Obsession: The Original Uncut Version (JioHotstar): The Horror Everyone Is Talking About

Release date: October 30, 2026 | Platform: JioHotstar | Genre: Supernatural horror

This is the title I am most curious about. The Obsession JioHotstar Hindi release means you can stream the original uncut version in both English and Hindi from October 30.

The story follows a young man who uses a mystical object to make his crush fall for him, and, as you would guess, desire quickly turns into a nightmare.

The numbers around this film are wild. Obsession reportedly earned about $522 million worldwide, making it the top-grossing horror film of 2026, and it became Focus Features’ highest-grossing domestic release ever.

Even more surprising, it was produced on a budget of just $750,000. That is a return of roughly 700 times the cost, which is almost unheard of in modern cinema.

Because of this, the Obsession JioHotstar Hindi version is, in my view, the most important entry in this week’s new OTT releases this weekend, and the biggest film among the OTT releases October 30. If you skipped it in theatres, this is your chance to see what the buzz is about.

Who should watch it: Horror fans who like psychological, character-driven scares more than jump scares.

4. Sigma (Netflix): A Directorial Debut Worth Watching

Release date: October 30, 2026 | Platform: Netflix | Genre: Tamil action drama

Sundeep Kishan headlines this Tamil action drama, but the real talking point is behind the camera. Jason Sanjay, son of actor Vijay, makes his directorial debut with Sigma. Netflix is offering multiple language options, including Telugu and Hindi, which makes it easy for non-Tamil viewers to join in.

Among the Friday OTT Releases for South Indian audiences, Sigma is one of the OTT releases October 30 likely to trend on social media over the weekend. It arrives on the Akka Netflix release date too, so plan your queue.

Who should watch it: Action fans and anyone following the new generation of South Indian filmmakers.

Hype score: 8/10

5. A Couple of Lies (Netflix): The Thriller for Binge Watchers

Release date: October 30, 2026 | Platform: Netflix | Genre: Psychological thriller

This one is a four-part Swedish psychological thriller about two couples who swap homes. That is a premise I find irresistible, because a house swap is the perfect setting for secrets, jealousy and slow-building tension.

It is available in Swedish and English.

With only 4 episodes, it is also the easiest show on the list to finish in a single evening. For viewers who like Scandinavian crime and mystery, the new OTT releases this weekend do not get better than this.

Who should watch it: Anyone who enjoys short, tight thrillers they can finish in one sitting. Since the Akka Netflix release date is also October 30, it pairs well after one Akka episode.

Hype score: 8/10

6. Immortal (SonyLIV): A Romantic Horror to Round Out the Week

Release date: October 30, 2026, | Platform: SonyLIV | Genre: Romantic horror

Immortal stars GV Prakash Kumar and Kayadu Lohar and is described as a romantic horror film. Mixing romance with the supernatural is risky, but when it works, it stays with you. SonyLIV does not always get the spotlight in weekly roundups, so I was happy to see this title among the new OTT releases this weekend.

You can find more platform coverage in ours SonyLIV section.

Who should watch it: Viewers who want something different from the usual jump-scare horror. If the Obsession JioHotstar Hindi film feels too intense, Immortal is a gentler pick. Unlike the Akka Netflix release date, which is Netflix only, this one is for SonyLIV.

Hype score: 7/10

More OTT Releases October 30 That Deserve a Look

Six picks cannot cover everything, so here are more titles from this Friday’s wider list of new OTT releases this weekend. Love Always also streams on JioHotstar, so one subscription covers it and the Obsession JioHotstar Hindi release:

• Love Always (JioHotstar): A Tamil time-travel fantasy romantic family comedy, dubbed in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.

• Apocalypse Z: New World (Prime Video): A Spanish survival horror sequel with a rabies-like outbreak. Some listings show October 30, while others say October 31, so check the app.

• Rudravanam PS (ZEE5): A Telugu crime thriller with Telugu audio and English and Hindi subtitles.

• Nocturne (Apple TV+): An English psychological crime mystery.

How I Would Plan My Weekend With These Friday OTT Releases

Because there is so much to watch, I use a simple plan. Here is how I will handle the new OTT releases this weekend. Here is how I would split them:

• Friday night (2 to 3 hours): Start Akka on the Akka Netflix release date itself, as it is the highest-hype title on my list.

• Saturday afternoon (family time): Put on Meethe Mein Kya Hai.

• Saturday night: Stream the Obsession JioHotstar Hindi or English version for the horror fix.

• Sunday: Finish A Couple of Lies in one sitting, then try Sigma.

This way, you cover all four major genres without feeling overloaded. Not all OTT releases October 30 need to be watched on day one, and I suggest saving a couple of titles from these Friday OTT Releases for next weekend.

Which Platform Wins the Friday OTT Releases This Week?

If I count only my six picks from the OTT releases October 30 slate, Netflix wins with four titles, JioHotstar and SonyLIV have one each. But numbers do not tell the whole story.

Among the new OTT releases this weekend, JioHotstar has the single biggest film in Obsession, while Netflix has the widest range of languages and genres.

My verdict: if you can only have one subscription this weekend, Netflix gives the best value, and the Akka Netflix release date is reason enough. For the Obsession JioHotstar Hindi version, add JioHotstar if you are a horror fan. For more comparisons, check our Weekend Watchlist page.
