One critic who reviewed Part 1 mentioned 16 episodes overall, which would point to 8 more in Part 2, but I would treat that as unofficial until Netflix lists the episodes. Because the Chumbak season 2 release date falls on a Thursday and Part 1 also had 8 episodes, I expect a full binge drop rather than weekly releases.

Netflix streams it in India, and the show carries a TV-14 style rating according to one review, so it works for teens and adults together. 

What Happened Before Chumbak Part 2: A Quick Recap

I like how the writers use one crisis to expose four other marriages. Rajni and Kuku Merchant are the emotional centre, while Mickey and Twinkle, Sumeet Raghavan with Sandeepa Dhar, Anant V. Joshi with Amyra Dastur, and Sumeet Vyas with Manasi Parekh fill the rest of the colony. That is 5 households, 5 sets of problems and roughly zero secrets that stay secret. 

The Chumbak Colony Storyline in Part 2: Five Families, Bigger Trouble 

Here is what has been shared publicly about the Chumbak Colony storyline in the new episodes. Trade reports say friendships between neighbours will be tested as several family issues get tangled together. Rajni and Kuku will try to keep the peace, while Twinkle and Mickey’s marriage runs into more turbulence.  

NewsBytes also reports a divorce filing involving Priyanka’s son as one of the family feuds in this batch.

Chumbak Netflix Cast: Who Is Back in Chumbak Part 2

Four of the five leading couples are middle-aged pairs, so the show quietly asks what long marriages look like when everyone can hear your arguments through the wall. 

Neena Gupta and Deven Bhojani: The Heart of Chumbak Part 2 

If Chumbak Part 2 works, it will work because of Neena Gupta and Deven Bhojani. Multiple critics singled out Neena’s restrained performance as Rajni, noting that pauses and understated reactions land harder than loud dialogue.  

Deven Bhojani, who is best known for comedy, gets a more layered role as Kuku, and one reviewer called the couple’s track the emotional anchor of the series. 

Neena Gupta said the set felt like her own childhood, when neighbours were practically family. That warmth is exactly what separates Chumbak from a standard loud sitcom.  

In my own view, this pairing is the strongest reason to press play on Chumbak Part 2, even if some jokes around them feel borrowed from older television. 

Helly Shah and Arjun Bijlani: Why Mickey and Twinkle Matter 

Mickey and Twinkle are the younger counterpoint in the colony. Arjun Bijlani, born on 31 October 1982, is best known for television hits like Miley Jab Hum Tum and Naagin, so watching him in a domestic comedy is a nice change of pace.  

Helly Shah has said this was her first attempt at comedy, which makes her performance more interesting to watch as the marriage drama deepens. 

One critic felt these two fared better than much of the rest of the cast in Part 1. Arjun promised that Part 2 takes the chaos up “several notches”, and the trade reports keep pointing to Twinkle and Mickey’s marriage as a major thread.

Chumbak is created, written and directed by Aatish Kapadia and produced by JD Majethia, the duo behind Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Khichdi and Baa Bahu Aur Baby. That legacy sets high expectations, and it is also why comparisons are unavoidable.  

Some critics compare Chumbak to those classics and find it warmer than most modern sitcoms, while others feel its retro surface hides familiar tropes. 

I think the 1980s-style production design is the show’s most obvious selling point. Colours, costumes and domestic details create a period mood that looks carefully built. One reviewer, however, felt the colony looks like one giant set with vague boundaries.  

I see both sides: the look is lovely, but the storytelling has to carry the real weight in Chumbak Part 2.

Since Chumbak Part 2 has not streamed yet, this section is my Chumbak web series review of the show based on Part 1 and the critical reception. Critics are genuinely split, and I want you to see the full picture. 

What works 

• The ensemble: 12 actors share the load, and no couple feels like filler. 

• The emotional core: the Rajni and Kuku thread adds weight to the comedy.

What does not work 

• Some jokes feel dated, a point raised by more than one reviewer. 

• The setup-heavy pacing early in Part 1 can feel scattered.
