Set in a Himalayan boarding school, Girls Will Be Girls follows Mira, a teenage girl, as she experiences romance, sexual awakening, and a strained relationship with her protective mother. The film explores themes of independence, self-discovery, and the complexities of growing up.

Filmed in Uttarakhand and Dehradun, Girls Will Be Girls was produced by Pushing Buttons Studios and received support from the French Aide aux Cinemas du Monde. The film was created with a predominantly female crew, aiming to create a safe space for female storytelling.

Release Date
Premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, the film will be available on Amazon Prime Video on 18 December 2024.
