Kangana Ranaut has released the trailer of her much-awaited film Emergency, where she portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. In the less than two-minute trailer, Kangana’s character declares herself the “cabinet” and pushes for a decision that leads to chaos and violence in the country. The film showcases the political drama around the 1975 Emergency period, with Anupam Kher playing Jayaprakash Narayan and Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The movie, written and directed by Kangana, will hit theatres on January 17. It also features Mahima Chaudhry, Ashok Chhabra, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik.
Kangana shared the trailer on X, saying, “1975, Emergency — A Defining chapter in Indian History. Indira: India’s most powerful woman.”
