“GG Precinct Set for Release on August 22”

Plot

“GG Precinct” (Chinese: 正港分局) is a Taiwanese crime comedy series that serves as a spin-off to the 2022 supernatural comedy film Marry My Dead Body. The story follows the eccentric GG Precinct squad as they investigate a series of mysterious murders, with clues linked to Chinese idioms. The blend of crime-solving and comedy promises a unique and engaging viewing experience.

Cast and Crew

The series stars Greg Hsu, Gingle Wang, Ma Nien-hsien, and Flower Chen reprising their roles from Marry My Dead Body. New cast members include Lulu Huang, Ng Ki-pin, Da-her Lin, and Tai Chih-yuan. Directed and written by Cheng Wei-hao and Yin Chen-hao, the show is produced by Veronica Jin and distributed by Calendar Studios.

Filming

Principal photography began in November 2022, with key scenes shot at the Taipei City Police Department Headquarters. Filming wrapped up before the theatrical release of Marry My Dead Body and moved into post-production by May 2023.

Production and Development

The idea for “GG Precinct” was conceived by director Cheng Wei-hao during the filming of Marry My Dead Body. The project was greenlit and received funding in November 2022. Initially planned for eight episodes, the series was trimmed down to six. The scriptwriting and filming occurred simultaneously due to a tight production schedule, ensuring the series would meet its 2024 release date.

Release Date

“GG Precinct” is set to premiere on Netflix on August 22, 2024.

Final Verdict:

A quirky blend of humor and mystery, this series is a must-watch for fans of innovative crime comedies.
