Production
The film was confirmed at CinemaCon 2019 as part of the Alien franchise’s new projects. Directed by Fede Álvarez, who also co-wrote the screenplay, Alien: Romulus was initially planned for a Hulu release but will now hit theaters. Filming took place in Budapest from March to July 2023, using practical effects and a score by Benjamin Wallfisch.
Release
Alien: Romulus will have its UK premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on August 15, 2024. It will be released in theaters by 20th Century Studios in the US and UK on August 16, 2024.
