Vicky Kaushal’s period drama Chhaava is set to roar in Telugu too! After a successful run in Hindi-speaking regions, the movie will now be released in Telugu. Fans had been asking for a Telugu version ever since the film was released two weeks ago. Responding to the demand, the production company, Maddock, announced the news on Instagram.
The post featured a poster of Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and mentioned that the movie will release in Telugu on “popular demand.” The caption read, “The epic tale of India’s courageous son, #Chhaava, is now all set to roar in Telugu by popular demand. Witness the biggest spectacle #Chhaava in Telugu from March 7th. #ChhaavaTelugu Grand Release by #GeethaArtsDistributions.”
Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava has been a blockbuster since its release on February 14. The film has earned over ₹500 crore worldwide, making it the second-highest-grossing period epic in Hindi, after Padmaavat. It has made ₹385 crore in India and is expected to cross the ₹400 crore mark soon. If it continues at this pace, it could even reach the ₹700 crore mark globally.
Chhaava has been especially popular in Maharashtra, where Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj is celebrated as a hero. The movie is also performing well in Rajasthan and West Bengal.
The film stars Vicky Kaushal, Akshaye Khanna, Rashmika Mandanna, Divya Dutta, and Vineet Kumar Singh. It tells the inspiring story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
