Vidaamuyarchi offers a refreshing departure from Ajith Kumar’s usual mass hero roles, delving into a slower, more emotional road thriller. The story centers on Arjun (Ajith) and his wife Kayal (Trisha), whose marriage has hit rock bottom. After a heartbreaking loss and growing distance, they decide to take one last road trip together. However, things take a dramatic turn when Kayal suddenly disappears after an unexpected encounter.
While the first half of the film moves at a slow pace, with a focus on the couple’s relationship, the tension builds as Arjun embarks on a desperate search to find his wife. Ajith’s understated performance adds depth to his character, and the stunning cinematography, especially the drone shots, makes for a visually engaging experience. Despite some lag and predictability in the storyline, the second half picks up with intense action and suspense.
However, certain characters, especially Rakshith (Arjun Sarja) and Deepika (Regina Cassandra), could have been better developed. The music by Anirudh, though not memorable, does its part in setting the mood. Overall, Vidaamuyarchi marks a new genre for Ajith and provides a unique experience for Tamil cinema lovers.
Verdict: A suspenseful and emotional ride with Ajith Kumar at the helm, Vidaamuyarchi is a refreshing thriller that stands out in Kollywood.
