Ravi Kishan, once a reigning star of Bhojpuri cinema, expressed disappointment with his juniors for tarnishing the industry’s reputation. Speaking at the Sahitya Aaj Tak event, he highlighted how Bhojpuri cinema, once rich with socially conscious films, has now become synonymous with vulgarity. He criticized major films and songs for their objectification of women.
The actor, who helped revive Bhojpuri cinema alongside Manoj Tiwari, feels betrayed by those who followed. “I set the stage for the third phase of Bhojpuri cinema, but my juniors have let me down. This industry employs over 1 lakh people, and it deserves respect,” he stated.
Ravi also shared his efforts to promote Bhojpuri as a proud language spoken by 25 crore people, even presenting a bill to increase its importance. His dream? To bring respect back to Bhojpuri cinema.
