Filmmaker Hansal Mehta has responded after Film Federation of India (FFI) head Jahnu Baruaa criticized All We Imagine As Light as “very poor technically.” Hansal, reacting on X (formerly Twitter), said he had been invited multiple times to be part of the FFI jury but refused, citing external pressures in the selection process. He also questioned Jahnu’s comment, asking what “technically poor” meant.
Earlier, Jahnu had defended Laapataa Ladies as the best pick for the Oscars, saying it had the right “Indian-ness.” Meanwhile, All We Imagine As Light has been nominated for Golden Globes in two categories.
