“Hansal Mehta: Nadaaniyan Backlash Hit Ibrahim & Khushi Hard”

Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor made their Bollywood debut with Nadaaniyan, backed by Karan Johar. But soon after the release, they were trolled for their acting and dialogue delivery. In an interview with ETimes, filmmaker Hansal Mehta stood up for them, saying that the criticism was “in terrible taste.”

Hansal Mehta said people are being too harsh and unfair to these young actors. He also mentioned that such negative comments must be “traumatising” for them. He added that many popular actors today also had awkward debuts, but they were not as exposed to public criticism like today, due to social media.

Mehta stressed that filmmakers and producers should make sure that young actors are fully prepared before launching them. He also said it’s wrong to think someone will be a great actor just because of their famous parents.

Hansal Mehta Criticizes Star Kids’ Advisors

Hansal revealed that he had once approached one of these young actors for a unique film, but their advisors suggested they stick to a more typical “big launch.” He said many young actors just want to debut under big banners, thinking it will guarantee success.

He feels sad seeing them being mocked and advises them to stay focused on improving their work. According to him, once they give a strong performance, they will earn the respect they deserve, no matter the box office result.

Nadaaniyan was directed by Shauna Gautam and starred Ibrahim Ali Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Mahima Choudhary, Suniel Shetty, Jugal Hansraj, and Dia Mirza. The film was criticized for its weak story, cringe-worthy dialogues, and poor performances. The film is available to stream on Netflix.
