The Plot
The story centers around twins Soumya and Shailee, both played by Kriti Sanon. After their mother’s death, Shailee grows jealous of Soumya, feeling that everyone favors her sister. Their rivalry escalates when Shailee seduces Soumya’s boyfriend, Dhruv, portrayed by Shaheer Sheikh. Dhruv, who is spoiled and rich, marries Soumya after pressure from his father. However, he is short-tempered and resorts to domestic violence. Soumya’s grandmother, played by Tanvi Azmi, tries to seek help. Enter Vidya Jyoti, a cop played by Kajol, who gathers evidence to take Dhruv down.
What Works and What Doesn’t
The screenplay by Kanika Dhillon keeps the pace engaging, especially in the first hour. The mix of sibling rivalry and suspense keeps viewers interested. However, the story slows down in the last 30 minutes as the fight for justice drags on, losing some of its initial impact.
Performances
Kriti Sanon shines as both twins, making them feel like distinct characters. You feel for Soumya as she faces abuse and despise Shailee for her actions. The performances keep you invested throughout the film.
